GENERAL

As a senior engineer employed with Humiston & Moore Engineers (H&M) since 2001, Mr. Foge has been involved with beach and inlet projects taking the primary lead with data coordination and reduction with hydrographic surveyor and aerial mappers. Mr. Foge is proficient with the use of various software programs to generate digital terrain modeling surfaces for analysis of historic changes both along the coastline and volumetrically in project areas such as nearshore, inlet shoal regions, and borrow areas. Mr. Foge serves as the firm’s quality control engineer on project details and data analysis. Mr. Foge has a strong attention to detail and order ensuring clear and accurate products. Over the past 13 years with the firm, Mr. Foge has also become proficient with current measurement instrumentation and recorders including velocimeters and acoustic Doppler current profilers. Mr. Foge also provides supporting analysis for sand compatibility analyses.

Coastal Inlets – Plan Development and Monitoring

While at H&M Mr. Foge leads the engineering team with the coordination of data collection with the hydrographic surveying subconsultant, review of data for completeness and accuracy, and reduction of data for computational purposes.

Doctors Pass: Mr. Foge worked on the data analysis for the 2012 monitoring of Doctors Pass, and the subsequent preparation of plans for the successful maintenance dredging and downdrift disposal of the sand on Naples Beach completed in 2013/2014. Mr. Foge was responsible for contractor and county coordination throughout construction and prepared post construction reports for the regulatory agencies and county.

Clam Pass Emergency Dredging: Mr. Foge was the lead staff engineer in the coordination of data collection and reduction and the preparation of the plans and contract drawings for the 2013 emergency dredging of Clam Pass and subsequent monitoring analyses.

Big Marco/Capri Passes & Hideaway Beach: Mr. Foge has been the firm’s representative and coordinator for the Hideaway Beach Erosion Control Project and Monitoring. Mr. Foge was the firm’s field work coordinator through the construction phases from 2005 through 2010 involving the construction of two beach restoration projects, 16 T-groins and an emergency revetment to protect the evacuation access for Royal Marco Point. Mr. Foge evaluated the scope of the data collection from adjacent projects and developed the monitoring analysis in an efficient and cost effective manner. This was subsequently submitted and approved by the State DEP. The Hideaway Beach Monitoring Program, which includes areas of Big Marco and Capri Passes, is a large and complex region which Mr. Foge systematically analyzed in a segmented manner to present evaluation of a large and complex coastal system in a simplified and organized manner. The results align with background modeling projections and present regional changes and trends satisfying regulatory physical monitoring requirements, while simplifying the results for decision making boards.

Beach Nourishment

Mr. Foge has played a key role in the development of plans and supporting documentation for a series of beach and monitoring projects. These include:

  • Doctors Pass Monitoring

  • Wiggins Pass Monitoring

  • Collier Beach Monitoring

  • Honeymoon Island Erosion Control Project

  • North Keewaydin Island Erosion Control Projects I and II

  • Hideaway Beach and Erosion Control Project

  • South Marco Beach Project

  • South Naples Erosion Control Project

  • North Captive Erosion Control Project

Data Reduction, Processing

Mr. Foge remains up to date with development of software tools to coordinate with surveying entities and evaluate initial data for reduction and processing. Mr. Foge also maintains the firm’s aerial database for use on project analysis and presentation of data and plans.
